Let's get physical

Are you singing it now...in your head? Channeling a little Newton John...let's get physical, physical...I wanna get physical... Since I truly believe I was born to be on a stage I often serenade the babes with a song I feel is appropriate for the setting and for Jackson this is his theme song right now! Now that he is at Children's Specialized there is no rest for the wary. (Joking - yes there is!) He is worked out several times a day by different therapists and now that we have participated in his therapy we can do it too. These days we are focused on lots of things but mainly teaching him that movement is ok, it's a good thing, he CAN move whenever he wants. Sounds simple but due to the ET tube the last two months of his life as been spent not letting him move, holding him down, and keeping him as still as possible. He has to learn that movement is safe and fun.

Being with him is such a joy, I often dissolve into tears several times a day (shocking!) but this time they are happy tears. Tears of disbelief and a grateful heart to see him becoming the baby we never dreamed he would be - a happy, relaxed baby. This picture above of us is the very first time we have ever played on the floor together. This is something we have watched other babies do for months in the NICU and it was FINALLY OUT TURN!

While I would never wish this experience on anyone, it has taught me amazing lessons and provided me with moments of such powerful joy that I think my heart my explode. My son is finally happy. He is experiencing something that he never has before, a content relaxed body and mind. He finally has been given the gift every child deserves, the gift taken for granted so many times, he is happy!!!!!!!!
